Hey! I’m Kristle. i’m a Metro-Detroit based illustrator looking to break down barriers and foster connection through my work.
The earliest dream job I can remember having is wanting to illustrate children’s books as a first-grader.
I went on to study Photography at Savannah College of Art & Design; but, my openness and curiosity eventually reunited me with a passion I’d had since I was little: drawing. My pieces typically combine hand lettering and stylized illustrative elements or scenes; but I love to tinker with animation and other media. Right now, I’m having a blast collaborating with new clients and working part-time with hand-lettering artist, designer, and educator, Lauren Hom.
When I’m not working I’m:
Creativity continues to call me away from the comfort of systems into a place of curiosity—from the solitary to the communal.
In 2020, I launched a project and gratitude practice called This is Not a Bill, in which I send handmade postcards in response to small celebratory moments shared by others. Since launch, the project has fulfilled over 200 postcard requests to 29 states and 5 countries and was featured on WDET’s Culture Shift program in January 2022.
