Upwork Black History Month Quote

Upwork commissioned a hand-lettered quote for Black History Month.

This quote leapt out at me because there is a both a tremendous amount of hope and grace in its words. Marilyn centers the miraculous not in our doing, but in our being . These words celebrate simply being here—it’s a concept that should be held dear, especially for black people. If we can think of excellence as something that is already within us—in our lineage as opposed to something to reach for, it will always result in bold, transformative action. Whenever and wherever we dare to be present and visible, there is an abundance of possibilities. Recognizing the miraculous in ourselves and each other is an important part of honoring our history while pressing forward to build brighter, more equitable futures for the wonders that will follow us.
