Playlist: Sunshine Drive

Crafting playlists is one of my favorite pastimes. The title and artwork idea for this one came first; I then used those seeds to explore the vibes and moods of sunshine. In the beginning I want to add everything, which makes it incredibly hard to cut songs that I love but aren’t quite fitting the overall energy of the mix. The feel of the collection emerges on its own and I tend to add and subtract accordingly.

My favorite thought exercise for this playlist was to imagine what experience of sunshine the songs might evoke. For me, Kool & The Gang’s Summer Madness calls to mind a sunrise emerging amidst a foggy haze. Cleo Sol’s Why Don’t You transmits me to a tree-lined road dotted with breaks of sunshine streaming through lush foliage.
